First of all, our crew started the work as soon as the floodwater receded enough that we could safely enter, walking in rubber boots to plan our approach. We needed to complete the task rapidly to prevent further damage to the residence and to allow reconstruction to recommence.

It’s also worth noting that the cottage was under construction. It was to be completed in the following month. The cabinets were in place, some interior doors were installed, all the walls were constructed, but then the flood hit.

Furthermore, once the water levels lowered below the floor level, we started removing all affected construction debris. During the mitigation process, we relocated unaffected construction materials to the second floor.

After that followed the demolition of the cabinets, cutting the lower four inches of walls (drywall and shiplap), and removal of the hardwood flooring. Next, our team was able to perform extensive cleaning, and disinfecting of the cottage.

We were able to complete the work quickly in the same month. That allowed the owners to rebuild the cottage right away and enjoy it that fall.
